With the appointment and taking office of Prof. Helmut Faissner on 16.9.1963, the III Institute of Physics was founded at RWTH Aachen University. Now we celebrate the 60th birthday of the institute! Occasion: In 1988 the 25th birthday of the institute was celebrated together with the 60th birthday of Prof. Faissner.
